Up to seven English clubs are chasing Serbian starlet Nemanja Matic, skysports.com understands.
The 20-year-old - who has already made his debut for the senior Serbia side - is currently in Sweden competing in the European Under 21 Championship.
Boro remain interested, whilst it is thought Aston Villa, Fulham, Tottenham and Birmingham are also keen.

Le prometteur milieu serbe Nemanja Matic semble proche de rejoindre Chelsea. «Il existe une possibilité que je devienne un joueur de Chelsea ces prochains jours, a expliqué le joueur de 20 ans à la presse de son pays. C'est bien pour mon club de Kosice qui m'a permis de devenir ce que je suis. On a un accord avec Chelsea pour un contrat d'un an et demi.» Membre régulier des Espoirs serbes, Matic compte deux sélections A. Il est également courtisé par Middlesbrough.
Matic wechselt wahrscheinlich zu Chelsea.
